Looking for answers about instructional design services, technical training development, or what it's like to work with Geekee Learning? You're in the right place. Below you'll find answers to the most common questions about our process, pricing, timelines, and approach to creating technical training that actually works.
-
What is Geekee Learning?
Geekee Learning is a technical training and instructional design consultancy founded by Lesley Koch. We specialize in translating complex technical information into clear, engaging learning experiences for technology companies and technical organizations.
-
What does "where engineering and learning intersect" mean?
It means we combine engineering-level precision with proven learning science. We understand both the technical depth of your product and the cognitive science behind how people learn best. That intersection is where training actually works.
-

Do you only work with technical companies?
While technical training is our specialty, we work with any organization that needs to explain complex information clearly. If your training involves systems, processes, hardware, software, or any topic that makes people's eyes glaze over, we can help.
-
Can you help with software training?
Absolutely. We create software training that includes screen simulations, video walkthroughs, interactive tutorials, and hands-on exercises that let users practice in realistic scenarios.
-
Do you build custom eLearning courses?
Description goes hereYes. We design and develop fully custom eLearning modules using tools like Articulate 360, complete with interactivity, assessments, branching scenarios, and SCORM-compliant packages ready for your LMS.
-
Can you update our existing training materials?
Definitely. Many clients come to us with outdated PowerPoints, PDFs, or legacy courses that need refreshing. We can modernize, restructure, and enhance existing content to align with current best practices.
-
What is the ADDIE framework?
ADDIE stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. It's an industry-standard instructional design methodology that ensures training is built on solid foundations, aligned with business goals, and measured for results. We use ADDIE to structure every project.goes here
-
How long does a typical project take?
Timelines vary by scope:
MVP/Quick Build: 2–4 weeks
Foundational Training: 8–12 weeks
Comprehensive Programs: 12–20+ weeks
We'll provide a detailed timeline in your project proposal based on your specific needs. goes here
-
What's the difference between education and training?
Education places the learning burden on the student (like college). Training places the responsibility on the organization to make content crystal clear and immediately actionable. We design training, not education, which means we engineer clarity so employees can execute immediately.oes here
-
Do you work remotely or onsite?
Both! Most projects are completed virtually, which keeps costs down and timelines efficient. For projects that benefit from onsite facilitation (like live workshops or hands-on training), we're happy to travel. All travel expenses are discussed and approved upfront.n goes here
-
What's included in the evaluation and refinement phase?
After your training launches, we monitor learner feedback, completion data, and performance metrics for 30–45 days. We then make necessary adjustments to optimize clarity, engagement, and outcomes before delivering the final polished version.
-
How much does instructional design cost?
All projects are based on a $150/hour rate, with total investment depending on scope:
MVP builds: $4,500–$7,500
Foundational programs: $12,000–$18,000
Comprehensive training ecosystems: $24,000–$36,000+
Every project includes a detailed proposal with estimated hours and milestone-based billing.
-
How does billing work?
We use a transparent milestone structure:
50% deposit upon contract signing
25% at the midpoint deliverable
25% upon project completion
This keeps things predictable and fair for both parties.
-
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment terms are flexible. If your accounting department needs monthly invoicing, extended cycles, or purchase orders, we can accommodate that. We'll work out an arrangement that fits your internal workflow.
-
Are there any additional costs I should know about?
If your project requires travel, those expenses (airfare, lodging, meals) are billed separately at cost and approved in advance. For remote projects, there are no hidden fees beyond the agreed project rate.
-
Do you offer retainer or ongoing support?
Yes! Many clients partner with us long-term for continuous improvement services, keeping training current as products evolve. We offer retainer packages for quarterly or annual updates, new module development, and strategic support.
-
What's it like to work with you?
You get structure without rigidity, transparency without overwhelm, and communication that's clear and consistent. I take time to understand your products, people, and goals so the training I deliver truly meets your needs. You'll always know what's happening, when to expect deliverables, and what's needed from your team.
-
How involved do we need to be?
Collaboration is key. You'll be involved in:
Initial discovery and needs analysis
Reviewing design documents and prototypes
Providing SME input and feedback
Testing and approving deliverables
Typical review turnaround is 3–5 business days. I handle the heavy lifting; you provide the strategic direction and subject matter expertise.
-
What if we need revisions?
Revisions during the review phases are included in your project scope. The milestone-based approach ensures we're aligned before moving forward, minimizing rework. Post-launch tweaks during the refinement phase are also included. here
-
Can you work with our existing LMS?
Yes. We've implemented training in various LMS platforms and can configure, upload, and test courses for compatibility. If you need help setting up reporting or optimizing learner experience, we offer LMS implementation support as well.
-
Do you sign NDAs or work under MSAs?
Absolutely. Client confidentiality is standard. We're happy to sign your NDA, work under your Master Services Agreement, or use ours. Whatever makes your legal team happy.
-
How do I get started?
Reach out via email (inboxme@geekeelearning.com), text/call (702-443-4051), or LinkedIn. We'll set up a discovery chat to discuss your goals, and I'll send a custom proposal outlining options, timelines, and investment.
-
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. The initial discovery chat is always free. It's a no-pressure conversation to see if we're a good fit and explore what your training could look like.
-
What if I'm not sure exactly what I need?
That's completely normal and exactly why we start with discovery. You don't need to have everything figured out. I'll ask the right questions, analyze your situation, and recommend the best approach based on your goals and budget.
-
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes. During our discovery call, I can share relevant portfolio samples and case studies that align with your industry or project type. Client confidentiality sometimes limits what's publicly shareable, but I'm happy to walk through examples live.
-
Are you taking on new clients right now?
Yes! Project timelines are scheduled based on deposit receipt, so the sooner we talk, the sooner we can get you on the calendar.
